Recipe: Homemade Vegetable Broth

Like chicken broth, vegetable broth can be used in any number of ways and makes an appearance at least once a week in our household, whether it's in soup, potatoes, or even stir fry. So of course, we go through it pretty often which gets pricey because I have to buy, like other things, organic (I'm allergic to MSG).  And what better way to cut costs than make it yourself, right?  Simple, fresh and delicious.

Homemade Organic Vegetable Broth - Makes 64 oz.
1 Tomato, Cubed
1/2 Onion, Sliced/Diced
2 Leeks, Sliced
2 Stalks Celery, Sliced
1 Carrot, Sliced
1 Tbsp. Minced Garlic
5 Cups Water
1 Tbsp. Italian Seasoning - Oregano, Sage, Marjoram, Basil, Parsley
1 Tbsp. Sea Salt
Add all ingredients into large saucepan...
Boil for 8 minutes and let simmer for 15, removed from heat and strain.
Let cool and put in storage containers (for up to 10 days), or use immediately, I made Minestrone soup.
Enjoy.

Just Sheer

Last week we had a slight cold snap here on the west (east) coast, which gave me one last go around at wearing tights and booties before I moved entirely on to spring fashions. And as much as I'm loving the brights of spring, there's nothing I love more than adding a few layers to an ensemble, good thing layering sheers is almost like layering nothing at all.

Leather and Lace

A few weeks ago while shopping in a consignment in NC with my grandmother, I picked up a couple leather pieces for $12, including this red skirt, which originally was a maxi and I decided it would work better as a mini, even with my love for lengths.  I was so excited to wear it that I finally debuted it last Friday, on my lunch and shopping date with Assunta from Three Kitcheneers...

Are you loving leather?

Classics

Stripes and red lips are one of those things I've always deemed classic, no matter what era, what style you have, it always works. Pair with pleats, cut out pumps and a 'missoni-esque' bag and we're talking classics with a pop of print mixing.
